The following areas describe the major areas in which our apartments are situated. While the Gothic quarter and the Born area are right next to each other and the most centrally located ones, Eixample is the largest district in Barcelona.
If you are seeking an apartment close to the beach, you will find it in our section Beach, which contains apartments in Port Olimpic, Barceloneta and Diagonal Mar.

Malasaña is a special place, called Maravillas (marvelous things) by its own inhabitants. Historically the center of one of the most famous cultural movements of Spain, Movida, it is now an increasingly interesting area for investors. Full of fashionable and trendy shops, this place have become very popular amongst youngsters and students. Conde Duende is the part that extends beyond the Via San Bernardo. Much like Malasaña, it is more quiet and residential, ideal for tapas and for those seeking accommodation in Madrid.

HISTORY: the neighborhood is built around the famous Plaza del Dos de Mayo, named in memory of the uprising of the people of Madrd against Napoleon´s invasion. The district is also famous for being the center of the Movida Madrileña, the youth protest movement born at the death of Franco, to demand freedom and democracy. You can still find traces of Movida in bars as the Vía Láctea and El Penta. Lately it has converted into a spot for young people and students, thanks to the huge array of bars, concerts and clubs with really cheap rates!

ATMOSPHERE: The atmosphere in Malasaña is relaxed, cheerful and festive. By day it is pleasant to stroll around terraces and trendy shops. At night the area becomes a meeting point for hundreds of people ready to party and socialize.

PLACES: the Plaza del Dos de Mayo is the heart of the district and the starting point of nightlife in Malasaña, bringing together a predominantly young audience. Calle Pez is a street interesting for its shops, restaurants, bars and a theater. The same goes for the beautiful square San Idelfonso and the square Juan Pujol. Conde Duque is the most quiet and elegant part of this area: beautiful baroque buildings, squares and courtyards make it a rather intellectual place for an alternative cultural life.
