The best sights of Barcelona

Barcelona is a fascinating city and there are many things to see. Here is a list of some of Barcelona's most popular sights.

Trastevere

The nameTrastevere comes from the Latin trans Tiberim, which means beyond the Tiber: the famous Roman neighborhood, in fact, was on the opposite side of the river respect to the area where Rome had its origin and principal development.

The area has always enjoyed a special reputation: universally known for its culinary tradition, the authentic atmosphere, the beautiful women, is now one of the liveliest districts in Rome.

The face of Trastevere is closely connected with the history of its development: today it is still recognizable its medieval character on winding roads which open in the famous squares. The heart of the neighborhood is in fact the Piazza di Santa Maria in Trastevere with its beautiful church. Piazza Trilussa is one of the hot spots of the nightlife of young Romans and Piazza di Santa Cecilia is another gem not to be missed.

Two other places of interest are connected to Trastevere. The Tiber Island is located in the middle of the river, in the bend that separates Trastevere and  Piazza Navona. Legend says it was born due to the accumulation of mud happened when the Romans celebrated the expulsion of the last hated king, Tarquinius Superbus, throwing put into the river.
The Janiculum is not part of the Seven Hills, but it is the perfect place to see an unforgettable panorama of Rome. The walk from Trastevere leads to Piazzale Garibaldi, the roof terrace at the top:  is a path in the countryside, which offers a view of the capital.

Trastevere in Rome is also the perfect place if you want to taste the authentic Roman cuisine: here you can find restaurants, pizzerie and tratitional taverns, with outdoor terraces and delicious cuisine.
Also many bars and clubs to drink and enjoy the long nights in Rome!
