The cultural agenda in 'the city which never sleeps' is never empty. There are a vast number of bars and restaurants and there is always something to do, see and enjoy. The verb 'to get bored' does not exist in Madrid!
San Miguel market represents a symbol of how old customs come together with modern life.
Built in 1913 to 1916, directed by Alfonso Dubé and Díez, this is a monumental and historical place situated in the heart of “El Madrid de Los Austrias”, and located in the square with the same name.
In spite of recent renovation, reopened in May 2009, its original look has been maintained and is actually a great example of an iron structure, and has been declared cultural site and this year won the Millésime prize 2009 as best tourism and gastronimic iniciative. Its objective is to become a Centre of Cultural Culinery, and environment in which you can buy quality products, socialise and stroll around with friends.
This autumn the market is open Mon-Wed and Sundays from 10am to 12 at night, whilst Thurs-Sat it opens 10am to 2am. 24-31 Dec it is closed from 15:00.
