HISTORY: Sants, formerly an independent municipality, became part of Barcelona in the late XIX century, through a relatively complicated process. At the time it was an important industrial and commercial center. Today its main artery, the Carretera de Sants leading Plaza de España and Hospitalet de Llobregat, has over 300 stores, making it the longest shopping street in Europe.
Sants is home to the world famous Camp Nou, home to FC Barcelona. With a capacity of roughly 100000 spectators it is truly an incredible stadium. For a small fee on non match days you can take a tour of the stadium and have a ´backstage´ experience!
