Poble Nou

Poble Nou
Metro: Bogatell, Llacuna, Poblenou, Selva de Mar
Essential: Fiesta Mayor de Poblenou (September)
Famous for: its own  Rambla
In three words: crop, comfortable, human scale

Away from the crowded centre, the Poble Nou district is wonderfully located, overlooking the sea. Quiet and increasingly full of youth initiatives, is it an excellent starting point for visiting the city and staying near to the most beautiful beaches of Barcelona.

HISTORY: What is now one of the quietest district of the city, only a century and a half ago it was called the Manchester of Catalonia, with the greatest concentration of industry of the whole autonomous community.

ATMOSPHERE: The air we breathe in Poble Nou is not really metropolitan. It is located close to the sea, with its own Rambla moving  the center of gravity and creates a new, dynamic and more intimate one. It is quite  easy to feel at home, relax, enjoy the green spaces and beaches. The center of Barcelona is just 20 min away.

PLACES: The Rambla of Poble Nou is a three-lined avenue with outdoor bars and restaurants: it has nothing to do with the noisy and touristy atmosphere  of the Rambla in the Gothic area. It is a rather intimate place, a lot like a village. Going out for a drink on a Sunday is something you don´t want to miss. The historic cemetery of  Poblenou is the oldest in town: it has undergone several renovations and is now part of a tourist route alongside the cemetery of Montjuic. Finally, the great advantage of living in an apartment in Poblenou Barcelona is that you are just  5 minutes away from two of the most beautiful beaches in the city: Bogatell and Mar Bella.
