By train

Berlin is served by ICE, InterCity, and EuroCity trains by the national German train cooperation Deutsche Bahn which offers connections between Berlin and other German and major European Cities.

Several night trains from and to Amsterdam, Paris, Zurich, Vienna and Budapest operate every day.

Berlin’s main train stations with intercity and international connections: Ostbahnhof (East station) is one of Berlin’s largest stations, located at the eastern and of the east-west Stadtbahn line which runs through the heart of the city. Hauptbahnhof and Südkreuz are principal stations too.

All train stations are well connected to the public transport.

By car

All main roads and motorways join the Berliner Ring, or the A10, from which you can access the inner city. Just be aware that the city motorway is usually very crowded during rush hour. Also note that Berlin is an environmental zone and you are just allowed to drive in the city with the appropriate environmental badge on your car.

Once in town remember that speed limits in built-up areas are strictly observed (30 km/h or 50 km/h on main inner city roads and 100 km/h on the dual carriageway known as “Schnellstraße”). German motorways still have no speed limit unless otherwise marked.)
