Barceloneta is a must see during your stay in Barcelona. This area maintains its charm during the summer season as well as the winter. Always busy, Barceloneta is Barcelona’s most well-known beach, charaterised by its bars, sea-food restaurants, tourists and locals passing by the seaside. On the small streets near the sea, you can observe typical fishermen homes. Those apartment buildings are low with typical maritime architecture, adding to the bohemian spirit of the area.

HISTORY: This area was built in the 1970s in a unique triangular shape, next to the sea and near the Born area, Port Vell and the new Port Olympic. The network of small streets contrast with the wide boardwalk along the coast, known for its elegant buildings and modern appearance.

ATMOSPHERE: It is always summer in Barceloneta. Maybe due to the cities mild climate this area is always a fun place with a party atmosphere. It’s almost impossible to find a bar that isn’t full. Also, you can always hear music and see someone lying on the beach. In other words, it’s impossible not to enjoy your stay here! Many people consider it the perfect place for a vacation flat in Barcelona.

PLACES: Barceloneta beach and Port Vell, where you can take a relaxing stroll admiring the sunset and the beautiful yachts. Also, take a walk along Moll d’Espanya to Maremagnum and the Aquarium. If not, leave the sea to the side and walk to the large restful park ‘Ciutadella’.
