Apartments in Berlin

The Berlin Wall Memorial is located in the center of Berlin at Bernauer Straße and is an open air exhibition that remembers the history of the division of Germany. The 1,4 km long memorial shows the so called border strip with its different layers which was also called “death strip”, because of the many people who died by their attempts to cross the border.

It is the last piece of the Berlin Wall with its preserved grounds that gives an impression and a feeling of the former situation. From an observation tower you can see the construction of the border strip from above. You can also listen to and read stories that remind the numerous people who were killed by their attempts to flee.
