Berlin is a fascinating city and there are many things to see. Here is a list of some of Berlin's most popular sights.
The Kaiser Wilhlem Memorial Church (Gedächtniskirche) is a protestant church located at Bretischeidplatz between the Kurfürstendamm and the Tauentzienstraße. The church was built in the 1890’s in honor of Kaiser Wilhelm I. The church was badly damaged during a bombing raid in 1943. In 1957 a new church has been built as well as a new belfry standing close to the old church. The old ruined church tower has been maintained as a reminder of the WWII.
Today the church is an important memorial of the postwar period and is designated as a listed monument. On the ground floor of the old church you can find a memorial hall where you can see photographic exhibits of the church and the surrounding area before and after the WWII. The new church is used for religious services and events.
