Berlin is a fascinating city and there are many things to see. Here is a list of some of Berlin's most popular sights.
Directly in the center of the Tierpark you can find one of the landmarks of Berlin – the Victory Column which is situated in the middle of the “great star” (intersection of some major streets in Berlin). It was built in 1873 as a national monument to memorize the victories of Prussia over Denmark, Austria and France. The location during the construction was the “Königsplatz” close to the Reichstag building, but it has been moved to the today’s location in 1938/1939.
The Victory Column is 67m high and you can climb up the 285 stairs to the observation deck to get a panorama view over the Tierpark. On the top of the column you can see the gilded goddess of victory which is often is called “Goldelse”.
